It is with immense pride and emotion that we celebrate the honor bestowed upon our founder, Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, who received the prestigious Prix Gaïa in 2017, in the “Craftsmanship-Creation” category.
Often considered the “Nobel Prize of watchmaking,” this distinction crowns a career dedicated to innovation, poetry, and the creation of movements that have marked the contemporary history of fine watchmaking.
The Prix Gaïa, a distinction for human excellence
The Prix Gaïa is not awarded to a watch or a brand, but to individuals whose talent, vision, and tenacity have elevated the sector to prominence. For Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, this award recognizes his unique creative contribution to the field of watch complications. The jury wished to highlight his ability to combine functionality with aesthetics, transforming the reading of time into a truly artistic and narrative experience.
A career guided by passion and creativity
Since his beginnings, Jean-Marc Wiederrecht has always had a unique approach to watchmaking. He has not only designed ultra-precise movements, but also imagined them as miniature theater stages where time is expressed in unexpected and playful ways. Through his collaborations with prestigious brands such as Hermès (Arceau Le Temps Suspendu), Van Cleef & Arpels (Lady Arpels Planétarium), and Fabergé (Compliquée Peacock), he has always sought to introduce emotion and magic to the wrist.
This international recognition is a tribute not only to his past achievements, but also to the philosophy that continues to drive us at Agenhor: the idea that technical innovation must always serve creativity. Many thanks to the Prix Gaïa jury and the entire industry for this honor.
